The method involves freezing the molded product so that the weakened parts can be mechanically broken and removed. For example, rubber gradually loses its elasticity as the temperature drops—hardening → becoming brittle → crystallizing—and below a certain brittle temperature, even slight deformation can break it and remove it. With rapid cooling using liquid carbon dioxide or liquid nitrogen, molded parts develop a hardness difference between the burrs and the main body of the product. The quickly hardened burrs become brittle and can be easily removed with external force in a short time.
